The super-group Few Kings (Tehn Diamond, Jnr Brown and Take Fizzo) has reunited after 4 years of solo projects (and other things) after their award-winning debut album The Feeling Ain't Fair. Naturally the anticipation was high, given the feat that their previous album had done. Were we ready though?
Album Title: The Feeling Ain't Fear
Label: Tisu Ngoda Dzacho
No. of Tracks/ Duration: 13/53:30
Standout Tracks: Famba Famba, Mamero, In The Water, Bum Bum, Kutaura Nemi, The Remedy, 15 Billion (Hapana Hapana)
Spekk Verdict: Dare I say that this album is miles ahead of The Feeling Ain't Fair. There's a wide range of issues covered here from their status in Zim Hip Hop, the police, love, rape and social commentary.
There are also some interesting intros here, the first being PD the Ghost's outburst during the #FixTheFixx interview on Famba Famba.
The next to make a cameo appearance is the Zimbabwean president H.E. R. G. Mugabe on Mamero, which talks about the corruption by the state police.
On 15 Billion (Hapana Hapana) the infamous recorded phone call between Zim Dancehall Sniper and one of the 2 Kings Entertainment promoters where he was being offered a meagre $50 to be a supporting act for Jamaican artist Jah Cure.
Vaskana Ava starts with a snippet of one of Olinda Chapel's infamous Facebook live videos where she was citing irreconcilable differences. It;s been suspected to be a shot at Stunner.
Speaking of shots being fired they seem to be in abundance. from the putting so-called young kids namedropping them in disses on Famba Famba to lines on Bum Bum where Tehn goes, “Ndine camera, headboard, ZVESE!”, which seem to reference Stunner and Pokello’s sextape (where a headboard was absent).
I want do a full-on spoiler if you haven't listened to it yet so listen to it and let me know what other theories you uncover in this album.
I love this album. It is relevant, not too serious, musically and above all we are reminded why this trio works so well together. The feeling definitely was not FEAR as the boldness in their content reveals.
