“Dzoka” which features South African-based Zimbabwean songbird Tendai “Crimson Blu”
Dikinya is now available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play Music as well as
several other online music stores from the 4th of December 2015. An animated lyric video
for the song was released on the same day and is available for streaming on YouTube and
Vevo. The lyric video was animated by Willis “Bigwill” Tavagadza.
The song encourages people in the diaspora to come back home and help build Zimbabwe.
The instrumentation was provided by Tapuwa “Tizzy” Zivanayi and his band called The
Beautiful Addiction. The beat is very much African, combining the traditional feel of the
mbira with the hip-hop drums.
Sharky talks about issues such as interracial dating and marriage, and how Zimbabweans living abroad should consider staying true to their roots, respecting and practicing their culture. This song has been put up online for sale at a time when the internet is abuzz with talk of Tendai Sibongile Takawira, who made some controversial comments about why Zimbabwean women are now going for non-Zimbabwean men and how the Zimbabwean men are to blame. Sharky’s message to these men and women in the diaspora is simple – Come back home, and let’s build.

The song was originally put up online for free streaming on the 19th of May 2015.
