There's a new festival in town representing Zim Hip-Hop, Zim Dancehall and other genres in the town of Chitungwiza. The inaugural event is being held on the 28th of May. New Rules Entertainment in conjuction with Vine Design teamed up to create Jenaguru Republik. For more information about it I contacted the spokesperson Mr. Tonderai Rupiya (also head of the New Rules Entertainment stable) and he broke down what Jenaguru is all about.
Jenaguru Republik Meaning
Jenaguru means “Full Moon”. It resembles how we celebrate art to the fullest. In the darkest of situations our moon is full and we celebrate life, talent, success, future accomplishments, our robust networks, all the blessings we have and we don’t look back. We encourage artistes and the art lovers to keep on looking ahead for the betterment of the art industry. This has been joined by the term Republik to show that we believe in our arts as a united front. We will work hard through well branded and coordinated events.
Jenaguru Republik is a Chitungwiza music and arts festival that reflects the true GHETTO talent and provides solutions to tap into it to create employment and generate income. Jenaguru starts in the afternoon and gets into the night with splendid performances from the local artistes and other guest artistes that grace the event. This festival consists of the following activities and features, red carpet welcome, phones of melody, live performances, music sales, food sales, crafts and apparel exhibition and sales and a cypher.
