The long-awaited fourth album by the Masofa Panze originator Noble Stylz was finally released, with the controversial artwork and name. Having last released a joint album with BlacPerl in Masofa Panze 3. Is Noble's album really BETTER than your album?
Boasting production from Mclyne Beats, Russo, Fun_f this was already set-up to be a major project alert. Let's take a look, shall we?
For those that fail to decrypt the meaning in the artwork I'll leave the explanation I did on Twitter below.
Apparently an EP will be released soon titled 5-in-5.When we talk sneakers Jz are GREATER than Yeezys. The Yeezys represent other people's albums, the Jz represent Noble's #BetterThanYourAlbum— #22October 🇿🇼 (@sp3kktracular) October 21, 2017
No. of Tracks/Duration: 17/56:36
Label: Masofa Panze
Standout Tracks: Mhamha Vakati, Usarambe, Vazivi Vekumabvazuva, G.O.A.T Freestyle, Problem, Madays Acho Aya, Denga Inyasha, Wadis
Spekk Verdict: You already know I loved Mhamha Vakati, right? I'm not going to delve into the already released content from this album. I'm all about the new new.
Usarambe (Don't Say No) is my favourite love song off this album, which again features Elli-Ot. In case you thought that Noble has gotten soft the following songs Vazivi Vekumabva Zuva (Wise Men From The East) and G.O.A.T. Freestyle dispels that notion as Noble gets back to being the vernac rap monster that he is known for being.
What is a Hip-Hop album without some trap vibes thrown into it? MaDays Acho Aya and Denga Inyasha give us what Noble sounds like on such Mclyne productions. A short ode to Wadis follows thereafter.
One disappointment of this album was Nyaya Dzevakadzidza. Ten seconds we are preemptied and told that is a PREVIEW of a track that's coming later, hopefully on the 5-in-5 EP, featuring mUnetsi. Forgive me but I couldn't enjoy the rest after that spoiler. All I could think was, "Wha' Dis?"
Was the point proven? Yes this album IS better than a lot of albums as Noble manages to cover a wide range of topics with versatility. The forthcoming EP makes me feel like I haven't listened to the full project though. Maybe I'll be back with another review after the EP. Anyway I'll leave you with the video below.
