Why haven't you listened to MVPANI's Chimbambaira?
Overview: The bilingual Jay-Z (or so he calls himself) returns with his second project of the year, a birthday present titled Chimbambaira. MVPANI (pronounced Mapani) definitely has a landmine with this one. A lot of familiar names here in the form of Tulk Munny, AyTee and Soko Matemai.
No. of Tracks/Duration: 8/27:09
Standout Tracks: Art of War, Waste Time, Key, Mbudzi, Stuck
Spekk Verdict: For those that haven't heard MVPANI before this is a quick introduction to him. The fact that he sounds like Jay-Z may remind some of Mariachi Mzukuru. Each song aims to pack a punch. If you enjoy this there's a whole back catalogue to listen to.
This EP sets out to be just a birthday EP but I think it achieves more than that. I also feel that if this EP is paired up with visuals it will have the impact it needs. If the name MVPANI sounds familiar it is also because he featured on the 2018 compilation Moxtapes Vol. 1 I curated with DJ Mox.
You have to listen to this EP to fully grasp what I'm talking about so please do.
