Why can we relate to it?We all the glitz and glamour that is displayed on urban music videos but the reality could not be further from it.We all know of that guy who had a lot of music potential but quit just after high school. If we look at the Zimbabwean situation, a lot of the middle-aged parents belief in the religion of education and anything else (especially music) is for low-lifes and people of low morals.
While the passion drives you it doesn't usually equate to dollar signs, leaving feeling defeated and on the verge of giving up. Everyone wants money and fame but are they really prepared to sacrifice what it takes to get it?
Many a artist have slaved away countless hours in the booth recording, writing only to bear insignificant fruit. The "game" is heartless, just like life itself, survival of the fittest is the name of the game. Some end being nothing more than unsung heroes who are only remembered by their close affiliates.
When the work put in isn't justified by the outcome we could all be left feeling the same way. Charity begins at home so let's support our own before we support those from other countries. In the same light the artists should in turn provide content worth supporting.
